Hello Velvet Fields community! As the summer weather starts to heat up, things hear at VF are heating up as well! We have a ton of exciting projects planned for this month that we can't wait to share with you.
First of all, I would like to wish everyone a happy Pride month! This is such a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all of the progress made by the LGBTQA community and being your authentic self. Personally, I will be taking pride month to reflect on my own journey coming to terms with my sexuality as well as taking time to educate myself on current LGBTQA issues.
This is such an exciting time in our country as life is staring to go back to pre-pandemic normals. As we get ready for summer, I want to urge you all to get your COVID-19 vaccines! The only way we are going to beat this pandemic is by listening to science and protecting ourselves. I got my vaccine earlier this month and it was simple, painless and I got a $10 gift card just for getting vaxed! In most states, people 16 and up are now eligible to receive their vaccine. Preorders for From The Heart have officially closed! If you preordered your physical copy you should expect to receive it in about 4 weeks. We seriously can not wait for you guys to get your hands on these, we know you are going to love it! If you didn't get the chance to preorder your copy, there are still some left! We have begun the process of assembling our fourth issue: Mind, Body and Soul! We are already so excited for you to see it come together! As we enter the editing process, you can keep up with updates on the progress through our social media accounts. We are hoping to open preorders for issue 04 by the end of June.
If you are reading this post, that means we have officially launched phase 01 of our website redesign! I've been working on improving the website for weeks now and I'm so excited to finally roll it out. Some of the new features include: a form to submit article pitches, updated submission guidelines, new staff and editor applications and more! Some of the new updates we will be adding on in the coming days and weeks include: a new online store directly on our site, and updated and comprehensive staff page, a redesigned gallery area and other ideas still in the works. Be sure to click around and check out the new changes!
We have so much more excited announcements I can't wait to share! I'm so bad at keeping secrets so not spilling the beans on the cool stuff we are working on is killing me. In the coming weeks make sure to be on the lookout for opportunities to get involved, submit to a unique print project we have planned.
